We’re reaching out to photographers to let you all know that we’re planning to host a photography exhibition in May that will be a follow-up to the last two years’ group photography exhibitions at Coldstream Fine Art:   This City .  Toronto is a city currently experiencing rapid growth and both subtle and overt transformations right before our eyes. We are challenging photographers with diverse styles, backgrounds and techniques to one equal task: submit a photograph that represents this city through your eyes.   This year’s exhibition will build upon the success of the running exhibition. In May 2016 Coldstream hosted This City: A Group Photography Show , kicking off the series by featuring twelve Toronto-based photographers with unique and eclectic views of the city. It was followed up in May 2017 with This City II , exhibiting fourteen photographers with intriguing ways of seeing Toronto through the camera lens. CBC Arts coverage of This City II: http://www.cbc.ca/arts/their-challenge-represent-all-of-toronto-in-a-single-photo-1.4094129 The participating artists were asked to submit one or two photos that represent this city, Toronto, to them. What made these exhibitions compelling was the variety of photography on display, all with varying interpretations of the same theme. The shows were both very well-received, commercially successful and succeeded in attracting a large amount of visitors. This year we hope to follow the same rubric, but we are aiming to expand to a larger group of participants beyond last year’s fourteen artists. The submission deadline is Feb 28th . The exhibition will run from May 3rd to June 2nd 2018,  with an opening reception planned for Thursday, May 3rd from 6 to 9pm . We plan to register the exhibition with the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival and apply to be one of their “featured” exhibitions, which would bring a lot more exposure and visitors to the exhibition. If we aren’t selected to be a featured exhibition, though, we will still be part of CONTACT as an “open” exhibition. You can check out the CONTACT website if you’re not familiar:  http://scotiabankcontactphoto.com Please let us know this week if you would like to make a submission for this year’s installment. More detailed information will follow and we can answer any questions you may have, so please don’t hesitate to reach out. And please feel free to recommend other people you think are talented and might be interested. Looking forward to seeing all of your great submissions! Submit to:  info@coldstreamfineart.com
