Mr. Hydde’s work is a running conversation of different strains of emotions, stories and possibilities. The negotiation of internal narratives colliding with external elements is given expression through a dynamic combination of imagery, colour and texture. The overlap of imagery mirrors Mr. Hydde’s own process of navigating through both conscious and subliminal information. However, a completed work’s complexity is not limited to his individual experience of it and in fact is able to resonate with a viewer in uniquely personal ways.
Mr. Hydde is a painter living and working in the greater Toronto area. He holds both a BFA and an MFA from prestigious Canadian universities in what he refers to as “traditional” art education. An ardent admirer of street art, Pop, Surrealism, Dada, and, particularly, the European art collective COBRA, he has distilled these influences with his own instincts to form a unique artistic identity.
Mr. Hydde’s varied personal history, including a variety of day jobs, health struggles and adventures in Tokyo, has contributed to his creative capacity.
